Welcome to #FranchiseNation , I am your host Moonlightswami, and here we have my Madden NFL 17 New Orleans Saints Franchise. This series is going to be the deepest, most detailed, and hopefully most entertaining franchise ever produced on YouTube. The goal is to have 8 videos a week, full immersion into draft classes, and a lot more details to try and reflect the real life National Football League. I selected the New Orleans Saints because I have never really dealt with a team on the verge of a rebuild. Drew Brees is getting old, and while the team may have some good pieces in place, their overall roster is poor, and their record reflects that. Especially on defense, the Saints just are not a good enough team to compete in the NFL, and that is where I come in. In May, owner Tom Benson was forced to sell the Saints Franchise due to deteriorating health. Head coach Sean Payton had an opt-out clause in his contract in the event Benson ever sold the team, and he exercised that right. New majority owner, Peyton Manning (Archie, his father was the QB for the Saints), went on a hunt for the new head coach. He found Andre Weingarten, an assistant coach with the Minnesota Vikings, to take over. Weingarten’s expertise comes on defense, specifically at linebacker, and thanks to his doctorate in sports management, Weingarten also was named the General Manager, in a stunning move by the new owners. After a 6-10 first season, Drew Brees shockingly retired, and Brandin Cooks demanded a trade as Brees leaving was the last straw for him. We managed to get a late first round pick out of Cooks. In FA, we signed WR Jaron Brown, and CB Captain Munnerlyn as our two biggest signings. In the draft, at #7 we selected LSU Zone Corner, Jocqua Fassitt. At 23, we selected Notre Dame LB, John Hastings. At 39 we selected Ole Miss LB, Shadd Houston, and then at 52 we selected Brees replacement, Penn St. QB Joey Shatley. We made many other picks, but these are the biggest ones, as we build for year 2!!
